Current Hair Removal Methods

Two hair removal methods are distinguished thus far: Depilation or mechanical hair removal affects the part of the hair above the surface of the skin, not touching the hair follicle (bulb). Epilation is removal of the entire hair, including the part below the skin, that is the hair follicle (bulb) from which hairs germinate.

"Depilation" can be achieved by shaving, applying depilatory creams or bioepilation (with hot waxing). Depilation takes comparatively little time, but smooth skin lasts for 1-2 days. Then itching, ingrown hairs, skin irritation due to the cream, rash may occur. Besides the newly grown hair looks more like bristle. Depilatory creams dissolve keratin the hair consists of.
